Here are a few testimonials from some of our vets.
“18 months after joining Brookfield, I can look back upon a variety of interesting, challenging and rewarding cases. Responsibility for managing your own cases, both daily consults and out of hours allows you the freedom to develop as a clinician in an environment where support is always available.
The close knit team at Brookfield made me immediately comfortable when I started, making the transition from student to qualified vet easier and encouraging me as I gained confidence in my role.
Of course, being a veterinary surgeon isn’t just about your colleagues- it’s also about your clients, and their owners! At Brookfield we have some of the nicest owners, who are so friendly and supportive in watching you grow and succeed. This includes local charities which have provided me with both surgical opportunities and some of the most rewarding cases I have been involved in.” -Lauren
“I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive and fulfilling job as a new grad; the amazing team at Brookfield immediately made me feel like a part of the family. I have had the opportunity to perform a huge amount of surgery, starting with regular neutering for our charities, and then progressing to laparoscopic bitch spays, rabbit neutering, limb amputations, thyroidectomies, laparotomies and emergency surgeries amongst others. The responsibility of working up my own cases and doing OOH has allowed me to quickly to develop my clinical skills and decision making, but with genuine support at all times from my bosses and colleagues, many of whom are certificate holders. Working in an independent practice also allowed me to learn more about the business side of things and have an input on the day-to-day running of the practice. Brookfield has a lovely client base; our hospital is based in Hereford with beautiful walks along the River Wye and the city centre both in close enough proximity to enjoy in your lunch break. I cannot recommend my practice enough (and I’m not being paid to write this!!), our team is second to none, the salary is competitive, the caseload is interesting and varied and the opportunity to progress in your veterinary career is huge.” Becky
“Brookfield is an incredibly welcoming team. Building my confidence as a new graduate to a stage where I was comfortable working in a branch with periods of sole charge. In the early stages a well managed case load and supportive vets, both during the day and out of hours, allowed me to develop my skills, both surgically and medically. You are involved with decisions from day one, with freedom over drug choice and CPD options, and encouraged to pursue surgical options when sensible, and work up medical cases with support if required.” Charles
“Working at Brookfield vets as a graduate gave me an all round introduction in to veterinary medicine. Working within a supportive team with a busy caseload, I quickly gained skills and confidence forming a solid foundation on which I have built my career.” Charlotte
